Illinois Governor Pat Quinn has appointed LaMar Hasbrouck MD, MPH ’90 as the director of the Illinois Department of Public Health.
“I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. LaMar Hasbrouck, who will strengthen Illinois with his global public health expertise,” Quinn said in a press release announcing the appointment.
Hasbrouck previously served as the public health director and commissioner of mental health in Ulster County, New York. Before becoming commissioner, he worked for the CDC for 11 years, most recently as director of the CDC’s office in Georgetown, Guyana. Prior to assuming the Guyana post, he was a senior medical officer of the CDC’s Global AIDS Program management team.
