Allyn Cole Callahan MPH ’82 and her husband Mark spent most of 2013 fulfilling a long-time dream. They traveled 6,000+ miles on their motor boat on the “Great Loop” circumnavigating the eastern half of the United States and Canada. Starting on the west coast of Florida, they went counter clockwise around the Florida Keys, up the East Coast, into New York harbor, up the Hudson River, through Vermont and into Canada. They then traveled up to Montreal, took the St. Lawrence Seaway up to Ottowa, through the Rideau Canal, to the Trent Severn Waterway and into Georgian Bay, which is part of Lake Huron. They crossed west into Lake Michigan heading down into Chicago and down the rivers to the Florida panhandle where they crossed the Gulf of Mexico back to their home port.
